Agricultural Workshop/Storage Building of the Year

Throughout the design process, we knew that Wendell and Jodi Christensen’s storage building and workshop would draw looks of admiration. What we didn’t know was that it would become an award-winning building. We’re incredibly proud to have the Christensen project named as the NFBA Masters Division Building of the Year in the Agricultural Storage/Workshop category.

The National Frame Building Association recognizes the best projects from across Canada and the United States annually at the NFBA Conference & Expo.

Wendell and Jodi’s thriving seed cleaning business needed a highly functional command post. Their search brought them to Remuda. Featuring a workshop, a wash bay, office space, and a kitchen area, the Christensen building could be considered the ultimate farm storage building. The entire building was custom designed to fit the functional needs of 4C Farms, and the aesthetic requirements of the Christensen’s.

Larger and more extravagant than a typical farm equipment storage building, this project had many more details – details that Building Consultant Jon Schouten knew were important to get right.

And get them right we did. Throughout the customer-first design process, special considerations were given to structural strength, functionality, and aesthetic finishes. 4′ on centre post spacing, staggered strapping, and additional ‘W’ bracing in the truss system combine to make the building tough enough to withstand snow loads that are typical of Alberta weather.

It’s impossible to overlook the visual details found on every inch of this build – inside and out. The two-tone exterior metal is perfectly complimented by Versetta Stone that wraps a portion of the building exterior. Exposed timbers on the deck provide the perfect amount of contrast against the dark building.

White metal lines the entire interior of both the wash bay and workshop area for a bright, clean finish.
