Over the past 65 years, the Brooks Family has worked to establish Country Club Pet Resort as the go-to exclusive pet boarding facility servicing Calgary and area. We had the opportunity to help grow their operations by installing a 50′ x 152′ x 18′ post frame building to be used as an indoor canine activity arena.
With 7 off leash areas, 40 romping corrals, indoor and outdoor play areas, kilometers of nature trails, and individual themed suites all spanning upwards of 20 acres, Country Club Pet Resort is the largest pet boarding facility in Canada. Still though, owner and operator Wendy Brooks saw an opportunity for her business to grow even larger.
Acting on the advice of a friend, Wendy approached Remuda Building to design and construct the Brookfield Arena – an indoor activity space where dog trainers and dog owners can work on agility and obedience training, as well as show handling year round on competition grade agility equipment.
For the Brookfield Arena to be a functional building for Country Club Pet Resort, it was essential that it could be available for use 12 months a year. With this in mind, Wendy and Remuda worked to find solutions throughout the design process, including insulating the entire building, and adding 15 windows that allow an abundance of natural light. The building also features overhead lights for those dark winter days.
To maintain the luxury feel and reputation of the facilities at Country Club Pet Resort, Remuda recommended adding a few key options to Wendy’s new post frame building. Wainscoting that wraps around the entire exterior of the Brookfield Arena, and a lean-to above the entrance both serve as features that elevate the aesthetic of the building.
